The MXit libPurple plugin is now included in the standard Pidgin program since version 2.6.4. So you can from now on just download Pidgin straight from their website (http://pidgin.im/download) and MXit will be included!

So go and download the latest Pidgin from http://pidgin.im/download.

We have just released version 2.0.0 of the MXit Pidgin plugin.

This release includes some minor bug fixes as well as:

• Avatar support – This will let you set an image of yourself which your friends will see.
• Status messages – Ability to tell all your friends what you are currently doing, and to see what they are doing.

This is basically just a bug fix release. No major changes were made to this release.

Hello again,

MXit libPurple plugin version 1.1.0 has been release today!

The major changes since version 1.0.0 is the following:
* users can now update their profile settings
* fixed the splash screens display
* fixed it so that the plugin will not try to reconnect when the MXit session has been replaced by another client (e.g when you login with your phone)
* MXit markup will now be escaped if the user enters it through Pidgin so that it is not seen as markup but as text.

Hi all,

Version 1 of the MXit libPurple plugin is being release today. yeah!
This plugin will let you log into MXit through IM programs like Pidgin who use the libPurple library as their basis. So basically it will allow you chat on MXit using a PC with an internet connection.

To use this plugin you will need to first install Pidgin which you can download from their website http://pidgin.im. Then download and install the MXit Plugin which can be found here.

For the developers and hackers out there, you can also download the source code from here. You will also need the pidgin source code (which you can download from http://pidgin.im) to compile it.
